Kasey Kahne Needs to Prove a Point

Evidently Farmer’s Insurance will be sponsoring the #5 Hendrick car through at least 2017.  This is great news for anyone who is a huge fan of the #5 Hendrick Chevrolet; it may not be great news for folks who are also fans of Kasey Kahne.

Kahne is the current driver of the Chevy and will remain through the end of the 2015 season.  Farmer’s Insurance has made it official that they will be staying on with the team but so far it has yet to be confirmed who will be the driver for the race team in 2016 and beyond.

I imagine that if Kasey were to make the chase this year and then continue to do extremely well next season as well this possible issue would disappear.

This does put quite a large amount of pressure onto the driver for the next two seasons.  Nothing in NASCAR seems to motivate certain drivers quite like the threat of losing their ride.  In some cases this has actually proven to be beneficial to both the driver and the team he is running for in the past.

I suppose with many professions the possibility of losing a paycheck can inspire like no other motivator.  This seems to hold especially true in the sport of NASCAR.
Without a team to rely on that is fully supportive of a driver, a spectacular racing career is hardly a guarantee.

I sincerely hope that Kasey Kahne will be able to improve on his season and turn all of these problems he has been having around.  He could really make a ton of new fans out of proving to them that he is meant to be on the track every Sunday.
