NASCAR schedule and weather outlook for Watkins Glen

This weekend, both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide series head to Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International, while the Camping World Truck Series takes the weekend off. Sunday’s Cheez-It 355 at The Glen will be the second and final road course race of the season for the Sprint Cup circuit. The Nationwide Series will race on Saturday in the Zippo 200 at the Glen. For the Nationwide Series, the Watkins Glen race will be the second of three on the season and the first of two straight, as the series heads to Mid-Ohio next week.

FRIDAY

9:30-10:50 A.M. — Nationwide Series practice (FOX Sports 1)
12:30-2 p.m. — Sprint Cup practice (FOX Sports 1)
2:10-3 p.m. — Nationwide Series final practice (FOX Sports 1)
4:30-5:55 p.m. — Sprint Cup Series final practice (FOX Sports 1)

SATURDAY

9:40 a.m. — Nationwide qualifying (ESPN2)
11:40 a.m. — Sprint Cup qualifying (ESPN2)
2:15 p.m. — Nationwide race (ABC, beginning at 2 p.m.)

SUNDAY

1 p.m. — Sprint Cup race (ESPN)

The weather looks positive for racing at Watkins Glen this weekend. After Friday and Saturday forecasts with absolutely not rain in sight, there’s only a slim 10 percent chance of showers on Sunday, Sprint Cup race day. As far as temperatures go, daytime highs throughout the weekend are expected to be in the low to mid-80s
