Defunct champ racer Gualter Salles finally returns to stock car racing after focusing on professional poker for five years. Having been part of teams such as Davis Racing, Payton Coyne, Bettenhausen and All-American, he was also part of Stock Car V8. Salles also teamed up with German Klaus Graf as part of the driver lineup for the Georgia based Panoz Motor Sports Team in 2001 where they shared the cockpit of a Panoz LMP 07 alongside Panoz regulars David Brabham of Australia and Dane Jan Magnussen. Watch out for the ASCAR races at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz near Klettwitz every year to catch your favorite teams.

Germany is well known for the Autobahn and it’s no wonder that the EuroSpeedway Lausitz is the premiere race track for the world’s best circuit racing events. Not only that, Germany has an emerging poker scene as well. After experiencing some serious accidents, Gualter Salles had an epiphany and entered the professional poker world in 2007. After playing some major tournaments like the World Series of Poker Main Events, his earnings were about $500,000 in live tournaments and around $1 million in online tournaments. Pius Heinz is the first German who won the most coveted WSOP bracelet raking in $8.7 million. It’s no surprise that car racers such as Salles are getting into professional poker. The thrill of racing cars is comparable to the suspense and exhilaration of playing poker. Poker is played by certain people who have good instincts and technique, like getting the feel of the track is also like getting the feel of the game and your opponents. You can improve your poker strategies and skills by practicing and playing at http://de.partypoker.com/. With its newest android app, you can play poker anytime, anywhere even as you watch your favorite team whizz by the race tracks. Of course you can also download or play in your browser at the comfort of your own home without the hassle of dressing up and going to a real casino. You can also improve your game by watching online video tutorials. But if you’re looking for real live poker action you can join the tables at Spielbank Casino in Berlin.

Gualter Salles’ last game is the last tournament of the PokerStars Carribean Adventure in the Bahamas last year. He was eliminated 107th with a total win of $20,000. His best performance to date was 2009’s WSOP Main Event in high stakes tournaments as he finished 12th place in the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘Em and in 2010’s WSOP’s $10,000 Main Event as he finished 117th place. There are a lot of athletes like Salles entering the world of professional poker and German tennis player Boris Becker is one of them. He’s considered as PokerStars’ best players where he won $18,672 after finishing 7th in the PokerStars EPT Season 4 Grand Final.

If there is one factor above all else when it comes to NASCAR betting it is change. And, true to form, there will be plenty of changes heading into the 2012 Sprint Cup season that begins next month with the Daytona 500, especially for Penske Racing.

Todd Gordon of Penske Racing will take over as the crew chief of the number 22 Dodge after a stellar Nationwide series performance in which his car had 6 wins and 6 poles. Roger Penske, perhaps the most revered name in auto racing, likes to develop and promote from within and he believes that Gordon is ready for this next big step, which is the equivalent of being a head football coach in the NFL. Driving the No. 22 will be AJ Allmendinger who is coming off a good season as he finished 15th in the standings.

Penske stayed in the news with the announcement that Kurt Busch will leave the organization after six highly contentious but overall successful years together. Penske said that the decision was mutual and that he was disappointed that Busch would no longer be racing for his organization. Busch won a total of 16 races for Penske. Penske, however, runs a button down and tightly professional organization and the controversial Busch is well known for his mouth, antics, and cowboy driving style which finally became too much both for Penske and his sponsors.

The last straw for Busch and Penske was when Busch made an obscene gesture as he pulled his wrecked car into the garage at the final race of the season at Homestead and was caught in a profanity laced tirade when a reporter wanted an interview. The entire episode ended up on YouTube and brought embarrassment to Penske and concern to sponsors.

Busch was fined $50,000 for the incident by NASCAR and was also known for frequent arguments with crew chief Steve Addington. Beyond that Busch would verbally abuse his pit crew and, worst of all, get into it with the great Penske himself as the two had public disagreements over the past two years that wore down the relationship.

Penske may have waited too long as Busch’s antics ended up making Addington quit in disgust and join up as defending Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart’s crew chief at Stewart-Haas racing.

The addition of Allmendinger in place of Busch for Penske Racing should be a long term positive for the organization as Allmendinger is a class driver and someone the organization can be proud of.
