Earlier this week, Quicken Loans announced that it’ll be “doubling down” in regards to its sponsorship of Ryan Newman’s No. 39 Chevrolet, going from being primary sponsor on the car for nine races this year to 18 in 2013.

At Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, team co-owner and driver of the No. 14, Tony Stewart, announced that Bass Pro Shops has come on board to sponsor his car for 18 races next year. That sponsorship fills the void that would have been left upon the departure of Office Depot at the in of 2012.

Stewart already had a professional relationship with Bass Pro and its CEO, Johnny Morris, prior to the deal for the outdoor retailer to join the SHR sponsor roster. Bass Pro Shops has sponsored Stewart-owned sprint cars and Stewart has had a personal services deal with the company for several years.

“We got introduced and started working together,” Stewart said. “It’s grown over the years. There was never an opportunity like this to do something together until now. The best part is, it’s not just a business partnership, but a friendship that has evolved.”

Bass Pro shops leaves behind Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing to join the Stewart-Haas organization. At EGR, Bass Pro Shops was a primary sponsor of Jamie McMurray’s No. 1 car for several races.

“Our agreement came to an end (with EGR) and had a once-in-a-lifetime chance to do something with Tony,” Morris said. “We’re still really close with Chip (Ganassi) and Jamie and hope to do some things with them in the future.”

Bass Pro Shops plans to continue its relationship with Richard Childress Racing, though, where it is primary sponsor for the No. 3 truck driven by Ty Dillon in the Camping World Truck Series and sometimes sponsors the No. 3 car in the Nationwide Series for driver Austin Dillon.

“No doubt, our involvement in NASCAR was a big part of building our brands,” Morris said. “We think racing helps grow the sports of hunting and fishing.”

Although sponsorship is relatively hard to come back in NASCAR these days, Bass Pro Shops along with Tracker Boats, announced last Thursday a sponsorship deal with Richard Childress Racing for 2012. Bass Pro Shops will be sponsoring a Nationwide car for Austin Dillion in the No, 3 Chevrolet Impala for five races and a Camping World Truck Series truck for Ty Dillon in the No. 3 Chevrolet Silverado for the entire 26 race season. This will be Ty Dillon’s first full season in the truck series, and prior to sponsoring him, Bass Pro had sponsored his brother in the same truck in 2011. The agreemenet with Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats is a continuation of a previous deal, plus five extra races in the Nationwide Series for Austin. Though Bass Pro Shops and Tracker had sponsored both a NASCAR truck and a Sprint Cup team, this will be the first time in a few years that they’ll have a Nationwide Series car on the track. The current sponsorship deal with Jamie McMurray and Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing will continue during the 2012 season.

As you may recall, Austin Dillion after winning the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship in 2011, will be moving to the Nationwide Series. The primary sponsor for Austin Dillion’s car will be AdvoCare. Over his three year career in the truck series, he won four races. Austin and his younger brother, Ty are the grandsons of Richard Childress. Their father, Mike Dillion, was a driver himself for RCR before hanging up his helmet and becoming the general manager at the organzation.

“I’m a hunter and a fisherman so it’s really cool to have the support of Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats,” said Austin Dillion. “It means a lot to me that Johnny Morris[the founder of Bass Pro Shops] and everyone at Bass Pro are going to follow me to the NASCAR Nationwide Series. We were able to win some races for them and a championship in the Truck Series so I hope we can find them continued success in the Nationwide Series this year.”

Ty Dillion, who is just 19 years of age, will be racing in his first full season in the Camping World Truck Series in 2012. Previously, Dillion had drove in the ARCA Re-Max Series. He was a very successfull rookie and managed to take home the 2011 championship. He also turned heads in the few truck races he competed in, including a third in the fall race at Texas Motor Speedway.

“It’s an honor to be a part of the Bass Pro Shops family,” said Ty Dillion. “I’m really excited that they will be embarking on my first full season in the Truck Series. Johnny Morris and Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats have been a huge part of my career and my goal is to bring them as much success as my brother did these past two seasons.”
