“Our thoughts are with all the families who have been impacted by this historic storm, and we’re focused on working closely with our partners in the days and months ahead to deliver funding, supplies and volunteer support to the hardest hit areas,” Lowe’s Chairman, President and CEO Robert A. Niblock said. “We’re proud to stand by the Red Cross as they continue to respond to the needs of local communities.”

Lowe’s announced that it will match Johnson’s winnings in Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, with a $250,000 minimum donatoin to the American Red Cross. It’s a part of a total $1 million in disaster relief Lowe’s plans to donate. The remainder of the $1 million will be earmarked to fund local projects in the areas deemed to be in greatest need.

In addition, Johnson and Hendrick Motorsports plan to donate a joint $48,000, representative of Johnson’s car number (48), to the Red Cross.

Fans are also urged to donate. Donations are being accepted at Lowe’s stores and Lowes.com. Those donations will be given to the American Red Cross to help provide food, shelter and other assistance.
