After a rocky start to the 2012 NASCAR season, Kyle Busch has found his way, and in doing so could be on the verge of something special.

Last week at Dover marked the first DNF of the season for Busch whose last DNF took place at Phoenix last November.

To say Busch has been on a roll as of late might be an understatement.

Prior to Dover, Busch had finishes of 1st (Richmond), 2nd (Talladega), 4th (Darlington), 4th (Charlotte-All Star Race) and 3rd the following week at Charlotte.

Busch also made a stop at Tony Stewart’s Elodra Speedway, this past Wednesday and in Kyle Busch fashion, came out victorious against some of the world’s top drivers.

It makes you think, is there anything this guy cant do?

Fan’s and media members will say yes there is, and that’s the one thing that has eluded Busch to this point in his carer, win a Championship.

Past years have shown us that Busch has the ability to win races (four wins last season), and make the Chase every season.

But when Busch starts the Chase is another story, having never finished higher than higher than fourth.

Last season Busch’s turmoil came full circle when he purposely spun out Ron Hornaday at Texas Motor Speedway during a NASCAR Camping Truck Series event, that saw Hornaday’s chances at a Championship dashed because of Busch’s ignorance.

Thus, beginning an all out assault on Busch and some questioning whether or not he should have lost his ride with Joe Gibbs Racing.

M&M’s (Mars Inc) even pulled out its sponsorship for the last two races of the seasons, citing Busch as a hot head who needed to clean up his act fast, or risk losing one of the top sponsors in NASCAR today.

In the end though, last season was the best thing that could have happened to Busch.

It taught him you can’t take anything for granted no matter how much talent you have, it can be taken away just as fast as it can be given.

Busch made his first good decision of the year when he decided to not run as many races as the seasons before.

Opting to focus on Sprint Cup schedule and his newly formed Kyle Busch Motor sports Nationwide Team, that him and his brother Kurt share the driving duties for.

It’s simple, less racing equals more focus.

Focus that Busch is gonna need to take that championship leap in this years CHASE.

The tools are there, the Crew Chief is there (Dave Rogers), everything appears to be in place.

Now let’s watch the season unfold and see if Busch puts it all together.

All week long Nascar fans, media and other drivers have debated back and forth on whether or not Kurt Busch’s latest meltdown was the last straw for the former Nascar champion.

But I think its time we all get honest with ourselves and put this topic to bed, once and for all.

Honesty will tell us that Nascar needs Kurt Busch.

Say what you want about the foul mouthed, unpredictable, cocky, arrogant Busch, but the truth of the matter is that millions of people tune in every single week to see what the #51 driver for Finch Racing will do next.

It’s not because he is the most popular driver out there, cause that title goes to Dale Earnhardt Jr.

It’s also not because he is the best driver out there, due mostly to his circumstances (driving for a underfunded operation) Busch most likely will not win a race this season, and it’s not because of a lack of talent because Kurt, much like younger brother Kyle is still considered one of the top 10 drivers in Nascar today.

It is because without Kurt Busch what does Nascar have this season.

Let’s lay this scenario out.

To this point, just past the quarter mark of the season, it has been a very quiet, very boring, very (did I say boring already) season.

Due to the changes in the cars this season and the emphasis on points being more important than ever we have seen more green flag racing and less controversy for the first time in a long time.

If you leave out Daytona and Talladega, last week was the most exciting race of the season when a 13-car pileup took place nine-laps into the race.

Last season was filled with drama, everything from Kyle Busch vs Kevin Harvick, along with many other weekly story lines that made for one of the most exciting season’s in Nascar history.

This season it just isn’t there.

What Busch said last weekend to Speed writer Bob Pockrass was the same thing that almost every other Nascar driver has wanted to say at some point in their career, they just didn’t have the marbles to say it.

Was Busch wrong for saying it? Yes he was.

But mark my word, for at least one week Nascar was back in the national spotlight again and although Busch was fined $50,000 and suspended for Pocono, do not think for one minute Nascar plans on moving forward without Kurt Busch.

James Finch created more contreversy earlier in the week when he said he didn’t know if Busch would return at all to Phoenix Racing, another fib.

Finch know’s how much Busch’s return will be anticipated at Michigan on June 17, at the Quicken Loans 400.

As fans and members of the media, we become obsessed with our passion and our curiosity, Im bettin everyone’s curiosity will tune in on Fathers Day to see what Kurt Busch does next.
