Superspeedway in 54.013 seconds on Friday to claim the pole for Saturday’s Fred’s 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the track. It’s his third pole in 21-career series starts. It’s also the third-straight pole for Richard Childress Racing.

“This is all them,” Dillon said, referring to his No. 3 team. “I just steer the rocket.”

Jason White posted a qualifying lap time of 54.219 seconds, good enought for the second starting spot to start Saturday’s race alongside Dillon on the front row.

James Buescher qualified third, and Aric Almirola was fourth in the No. 5 Wauters Motorsports entry.

“We can see the front,” Almirola said. “That’s all that matters.”

Cale Gale qualified fifth, and Kurt Busch was sixth in the No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota.

The Red Horse Racing trio of Todd Bodine, Timothy Peters and Parker Kligerman will start together on Saturday from the seventh, eighth and ninth spots. Bodine sat on the provisional pole for awhile during the qualifying session, with his teammates joining him up front, at the time, in the provisional second and third spots.

Gale knocked Bodine from the provisional pole, only to lose the spot to Almirola, who then lost the pole to Dillon. Dillon was the only driver to post a lap speed of more than 177 mph during the session.

Ron Hornaday rounded out the top-10 in qualifying.

“The second lap just got too hot,” Hornaday said of his qualifying run.

After 37 drivers made qualifying attempts, Wes Burton was the only one who didn’t make the race.

The Fred’s 250 is scheduled to take the green flag shortly after 4 p.m. ET. The race can be seen live on SPEED, with prerace coverage getting underway at 3:30 p.m.

Kyle Busch may have taken the lead from pole sitter Ty Dillon on the first lap of Friday night’s Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but Dillon was up front when it counted — at the end. Dillon took the checkered flag to claim his first-career Truck Series victory in his 17th-career start in the series.

“This is awesome,” Dillon said in victory lane. “My guys are awesome.”

Busch, meanwhile, was a distant second. James Buescher was third, Parker Kligerman fourth and Aric Almirola rounded out the top-five.

After losing the lead to Busch at the start of the race, Dillon moved back up front by lap 15 and led the way until both Kligerman and Busch got by him on a restart following the first caution of the race that came out on lap 31.

Busch took the lead from Kligerman on lap 37 and Buescher got by Kligerman to take over the second spot on a restart following a caution that came out on lap 38.

Busch and Buescher then battled side-by-side up front for several laps, swapping the lead back and forth multiple times before Busch took control on lap 55. A few laps later, Dillon got by Buescher for the runner-up spot and then took the lead from Busch on lap 58. But on lap 71, Busch was back up front.

After a cycle of green flag pit stops that got underway around lap 80, Busch cycled back into the lead and had a cushion of nearly four-and-a-half seconds on the rest of the field when the final caution came out for debris with 26 laps to go.

Lead lap trucks headed down pit road, and Dillon managed to beat Busch out of the pits to restart first.

“If that caution wouldn’t have come out, we wouldn’t have made it on fuel, again,” Dillon said.

Busch got by Dillon on the restart that followed, though, but Dillon made his way back to the front with six laps remaining. Prior to losing the lead to Dillon, Busch led a race-high 75 laps of the 130-lap event.

Dillon then began to pull away from Busch, as Busch scraped the wall several times in an attempt to catch back up.

“Just got beat,” Busch said after the race. “We just got beat on setup tonight.”

Finishing sixth through 10th were Kyle Larson, Joey Coulter, Nelson Piquet Jr., Matt Crafton and Kurt Busch.
