“I’m really excited about driving the No. 33 Chevy SS for Circle Sport Racing and proud to have the iconic Canadian Tire red triangle on the hood,” Fellows said. “(Car owner) Joe Falk and his team have a great relationship with Richard Childress Racing, and with the opportunity to test the new generation Sprint Cup car at tracks on the NASCAR schedule, it was a deal I felt I wanted to be a part of and so did (sponsor) Canadian Tire.”

Fellows had road course wins in both of NASCAR’s other national series — Camping World Truck and Nationwide j– as well as wins in the 24-hour races at Le Mans and Daytona. He is also a three-time American Le Mans Series champion.

Fellows has made 23-career starts in the Sprint Cup Series over the last 15 years, posting two second-place finishes, both coming at Watkins Glen (1999 and 2004).

“To have a driver of Ron’s experience and ability behind the wheel of the No. 33 Canadian Tire Chevrolet at the road course events is another milestone in our program,” Falk said. “Ron’s longtime affiliation with GM Racing and our relationship with RCR made this possible, and we’re looking forward to giving Ron the opportunity to add to the list of his accomplishments in his racing career.”

If Gonzalez makes the race at Sonoma, he’ll become the first Caribbean driver to compete in a NASCAR Cup-level event.

“I am excited to bring new Hispanic fans to the Sprint Cup series at Sonoma,” Gonzalez said. “I cannot wait to show NASCAR fans around the world what Tommy Baldwin Racing and I can do together.”

Gonzalez lives in the Dominican Republic. He was the first Caribbean driver to compete in NASCAR’s Nationwide Series in 2009 when he raced in that series at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 2009. He competed in four Nationwide races and 2010 and made his oval debut at Phoenix International Raceway. Gonzalez also competed at the Nationwide level twice last year, running races at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., and at Watkins Glen.
